[glow=black,2,500]This story does not start with "Once Upon A Time". But the legends and stories the elder towns people tell sound to be pure fiction. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. This story begins back in 1820, when settles were newly arriving and Lake Town did not yet exist...
A town was built, Wolf Hill they called it. It was a lively town busy with the new comers. Settlers from Canada, France, and England. And of course the Indians of Montana, the Shoshone and Crow tribes. They told the first stories of the Great Wolf Spirit. They told that it would come on full moon nights to attack their horses and take their women and children. Some stories told that if attacked by the spirit you would become cures. This was never proved or disproved as anyone attack was killed. The settlers didn't take the Indian's stories as truths and failed to heed their warnings not to hunt in the forests at night. Slowly men hunting in those forests started to disappear, horses and cattle would turn up mutilated. In the beginning the people blamed it on the common wolves. But when the men of the town started hunting them they came across a beast, human eyes, an arched back and long muscled limbs. A man named James Conwell vowed to kill it and a few men joined him. They became simply known as the hunters. Conwell was and English man who believed the beast was a werewolf. A legendary beast he was told about in his home town in England. He armed himself and his men with silver bullets rumored to kill the beast. But the werewolves healed so quickly they were hard to kill. But Conwell became an expert killer. After years of hunting the werewolves he was sure he had rid the land of this beast. But on a cold winters evening when the moon was just rising the town itself was attacked by the beast. And it wasn't just one, it was many of the strangely shaped wolves. They killed many, the women, the children, and the men. When dawn came the sun rose on blood stained snow. The town was left after that. Some people return East others locked their families away in their houses at night. Though most of the killing stopped after that the towns people kept the fear of the night and the forests. Conwell and his men were killed in the attack. But he was survived by his two sons. Years later his youngest died of yellow fever but his oldest, Mathew Conwell, lived on and like his father before him vowed to continue killing the werewolves.
1905, the building of Lake town was in full swing. More and more settlers came and the town grew. The stories of the attack on Wolf Hill faded. Only kept alive by the Conwell sons. But as the stories of werewolves faded a new one began. A man and his wife arrived in town from Spain, strange and secretive. He made his home miles from town. Rumors spread through the town, was he a killer? another werewolf to terrorize the town? Fear again arose in the towns people and their cry for help was heard. The great grandson of James Conwell armed with silver bullets and two other men rode out to the man's house in the forest. They didn't return home. No one knew what happened to Conwell and his men. But again a strange beast had taken the life of a Conwell. And again only one descendant of James Conwell survived.
Modern day, Lake Town has thrived. Stories of the beast have become just that, stories. The Conwell line continues today with a son and daughter. Though they don't agree with the other. People say the son is crazy for believing the stories of their father, they whisper and talk gossip. Even the sister will not believe him and for that they live apart. The son on a ranch far from town and the daughter in a small house in town. But even though the tales of the past have faded the odd sounds in the forests and the random disappearances still happen. People come from all around to visit the town were the werewolf legends once held true. They search for answers but find none. So the questions still stand, What happened to the great grandson of James Conwell and his men? Who or what, was the man that is said to have kill them? and do the werewolves of the forest still live?
Will anyone ever have the answers?[/glow]
